Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas and Happy 2009

Here’s hoping you’ve had a good year. Retirement continues to be a pleasant experience. We’ve done a little traveling, a bit of construction, attended a family wedding and shot lots of photographs.

The lives of the kids continue to edge forward with varying degrees of speed and success.

Kate purchased her own home this spring and is excited to be making decorating decisions. Still a graphic designer, and a part time jewelry maker, she’s doing craft fairs and trunk shows on weekends. She’d love to place her line in a few stores and shops. See her latest creations at www.katecojewelry.com.

Rob has found employment as a landscaping crew chief for a chain of auto dealerships – not a career, but it pays the bills so he can continue to turn bats. Yard Dog Bats has developed a small but loyal following. Check it out at www.yarddogbats.com.

As of this writing Adam is scheduled to successfully complete his college career and graduate from Hofstra University in December – barring yet another curve ball from the Hofstra administration.

He’ll be looking for a teaching job in physical education.

Bob and Diana took a trip back to Gettysburg College this spring, where we were honored by the college sports division for our support. Coach Campo and his wife, Regina, treated us royally and the baseball team won their games. Go Bullets!

Later that week we caught up with friends Bill and Bonnie Chambers, toured Amish country and Fredericksburg Virginia and brought home a few wonderful local crafts – and quilts!

Plans were drawn, permits were granted, machinery and supplies were organized, allowing the renovation of the Maine cabin to begin in May. Bob and nephew Matt and his friend, Ben, worked for much of the summer to add the space for a master suite and to begin applying log cabin style siding. This will prove to be a long term project! Bob documented the progress – see all the photos here.

Don & Terry joined Diana & Bob in Denver for the ASF conference – a great experience! All enjoyed the lively city and the spectacular scenery. We highly recommend a visit – especially for the younger generation. Check out our photo page for shots of Octoberfest, Garden of the Gods, the Air Force Academy and more Starbucks than one city should be allowed to have.

Back in Maine, the family shared the joyful joining of Don & Terry’s daughter, Megan, and Darrin Frowery, during a beautiful October weekend. Mimi made a beautiful bride and the setting was stunning. It was wonderful to have the family together; we got to see Neil & Cathy and their youngest daughter, Karen. Since we had not spent much time in the York area, we spent a few extra days there, revisiting Kittery and touring Portsmouth. NH.

Don’t the kids look great??

We don’t love it, but we’ve spent a lot of time on the road – I-95, UGH! We’ll be in New York for Christmas and back in Carolina for the new year. We’d love to have you visit us there. You’ll love it!

Wishing you all a blessed holiday and a safe and healthy new year.

Pray for peace.

Diana & Bob
